4. Creating awareness/encouraging fishermen/beneficiaries on water body management/law enforcement;
5. Establishment/maintenance of fish sanctuaries;
6. Expansion of fisheries technology and sea-weed farming technology;
7. Fish farm mechanization and fish supply chain development
8. Licensing of fish food and testing of fish food;
9. Provide inspection and advice on fisheries management development;
10. Production of quality fish fry in government hatcheries/fish farms;
11. Implementation of activities related to good fisheries practices;
12. Providing training on skills development to officers/employees;
13. Provide training to fishermen, fishermen and other beneficiaries involved in fish processing; And
14. Creation of alternative employment for fishermen.
Problems and challenges
• Degradation of broodstock, quality chicks, inadequacy of feed and other inputs;
• Waterlogging, disruption of fish migration and loss of biodiversity;
• Disruption of fish breeding and migration due to reduced water flow and siltation;
• Lack of quality and virus-free PL and quality feed for mulberry and bagda farming;
• Lack of alternative livelihood support for fishermen during closed fishing season;
Inadequate establishment and maintenance of shelters; And
• Stock assessment, sustainable harvesting and sound management of marine fisheries resources.
