Recent Activities (2024-25)
1. Law Enforcement:
a) On July 1, 2024, based on secret information, a mobile court conducted a raid at Rajarhat while transporting banned African magur (foreign magur) fingerlings from Joyanta village under Basundia Union of Jessore Sadar upazila. One transporter was fined BDT 3,000 under the “Fish Protection and Conservation Act-1950.” A total of 100,000 fingerlings (approximately 200 kg) were seized and destroyed using rotenone.
b) On July 4, 2024, a raid was conducted at 4 ponds and one hapa belonging to 4 farmers in Joyanta village, Basundia Union, Jessore Sadar. Approximately 500,000 fingerlings (around 600 kg) of banned African magur were seized and destroyed with rotenone and buried.
c) On September 3, 2024, at Kaikhali Baor (a dead part of the Bhairab River) near Mathavanga Bazar in Kachua Union, Jessore Sadar, a total of 1,200 meters of illegal Chinese seine nets were seized and burned publicly.
d) On October 6, 2024, in Murali, Jessore Sadar, based on secret information, a joint raid by RAB and the Department of Fisheries caught a company transporting harmful injected shrimp. The company was fined BDT 50,000 by the Senior Upazila Fisheries Officer, Mr. Ripon Kumar Ghosh. A total of 1,150 kg (64 cartons) of shrimp were crushed and burned. Supported by RAB-6, Jessore.
e) On November 18, 2024, 15 illegal Chinese seine nets were seized from Daitola canal near Chanpara village, Fatehpur Union, and destroyed in a public burning with the help of Chanpara police outpost and local people.
f) On January 6, 2025, based on secret information, a joint operation by RAB, Police, Bangladesh Army, and the Department of Fisheries was conducted at Monihar junction. A company was fined BDT 35,500 for transporting harmful/contaminated injected shrimp. 150 kg (11 cartons) of shrimp were crushed and burned. Supported by CPC-3, RAB-6, Jessore.
g) On March 6, 2025, a raid was conducted in Monoharpur canal, Ichali Union, where 3 illegal cross dams (bamboo barriers) were removed with the help of Ichali camp police.
h) On March 11, 2025, two illegal fixed engin (veshal) nets were removed from the Chitra River near the Shura bridge area in Ichali Union. Also, 40 meters of illegal current net were seized and burned.
i) On March 18, 2025, two illegal fixed engin (veshal) nets were removed from a canal near Daitola bridge and sluice gate, Fatehpur Union.
j) On May 17, 2025, 150 meters of illegal Chinese seine net were seized during a raid at Katakhal (a dead part of the Bhairab River) in Junglebandhal village under Basundia Union, Jessore Sadar, and destroyed publicly.
k) On April 14, 2025, based on secret information, a raid was conducted in Bokchor, Jessore Sadar, where contaminated shrimp were seized. One company was fined BDT 20,000 through a mobile court. 75 kg of injected shrimp were crushed. Supported by BGB-49 Battalion, Jessore.
l) On June 29, 2025, a raid was conducted at an 80-decimal pond of a farmer in Durgapur (Kuwaitpara), Arabpur Union, where African magur was found. A mobile court fined BDT 3,000. A total of 3,130 kg of African magur fish were seized, and the fish were distributed among 13 orphanages, 1 juvenile correctional center, and 30 poor families.
2. Distribution of Alternative Livelihood Inputs (Climate Smart Agriculture and Water Management Project):
On April 29, 2025, ten AIGA (Alternative Income Generating Activities) rickshaw vans were distributed among ten beneficiaries.
3. Beel Nursery Establishment:
a) Climate Smart Agriculture and Water Management Project:
A beel nursery was established in Hamidpur Baor.
b) Revenue:
Beel nursery established in Bukbhora Baor.
Beel nursery established in Kayetkhali Baor.
4. Training:
a) Climate Smart Agriculture and Water Management Project:
On May 24–26, 2025, a 3-day non-residential training on “Importance of Fish Resource Conservation and Relevant Laws and Regulations” was conducted for 20 beneficiaries in Jessore Sadar under FY 2024–25.
On May 27–29, 2025, a 3-day training was conducted for 20 AIGA-assisted beneficiaries in Jessore Sadar under FY 2024–25.
b) Revenue:
In FY 2024–25, a total of 120 fish farmers/beneficiaries were trained in 6 batches (20 per batch), each batch receiving 1-day training on various topics.
5. Fish Sanctuary Renovation:
a) Climate Smart Agriculture and Water Management Project:
Sanctuaries in Katakhal, Dolonghata, Ghuni, and Basundia were renovated.
b) Revenue:
Bukbhora Baor Sanctuary (Chandutia, Deyara, Jessore Sadar) renovated.
Hamidpur Baor Sanctuary (Hamidpur, Fatehpur, Jessore Sadar) renovated.
6. Fish Fingerling Stocking:
a) Climate Smart Agriculture and Water Management Project:
On October 15, 2024, under the project, 1,667 kg of quality carp fingerlings were stocked in 7 parts of Katakhal, Hamidpur Baor, and Sharshunadah Baor, Jessore Sadar.
On June 3, 2025, in 8 selected water bodies under Jessore Sadar subproject area, 1,667 kg of 10–15 cm long healthy, high-quality live carp fingerlings were stocked.
b) Revenue:
On August 28, 2024, 560 kg of 10–15 cm quality, healthy, live carp fingerlings were stocked in 17 institutions/water bodies/floodplains.
7. Field Day Implementation:
a) On November 27, 2024, a field day was organized in the pond of Mr. Bodir Uzzaman, a member of “Baniargati Fish Farmers CBG” under Basundia Union, Jessore Sadar, showcasing results of composite carp culture demonstration from FY 2023–24.
b) On October 7, 2024, a field day was organized in the pond of Mr. Nishi Ghosh, a member of “Lebutala Fish Farmers CBG” in Lebutala Union, showcasing results of mono-culture of koi fish from FY 2023–24.
c) On June 19, 2025, a field day was organized in the pond of Mr. Suman Kumar Ghosh, a member of “Hamidpur Fish Farmers CBG” in Fatehpur Union, showcasing results of pangas fish farming demonstration.

10. Styrofoam Box Distribution:
On May 28, 2025, 30 styrofoam boxes were distributed among 30 beneficiaries.
11. Demonstration Setup:
a) Revenue:
One native fish species demonstration was set up.
b) Climate Smart Agriculture and Water Management Project:
In FY 2024–25, 24 climate-resilient technology demonstrations were set up in the project area.
